About us

Big-firm experience. Small-firm attention.

Joyce IT Consulting is the side practice of an IT Director who leads infrastructure, security, and cloud operations for a 500-user organization across three regulated environments — general business IT, HIPAA, and CJIS. The day-job patterns that work in compliance-heavy environments also work for small and mid-sized businesses. The only thing missing is the enterprise price tag.

Our story

Why we started Joyce IT Consulting.

Joyce IT Consulting is the side practice of Denzel Joyce, a senior IT leader currently serving as IT Director for a 500-user organization spanning three regulated environments — general business IT, HIPAA-protected health data, and CJIS-controlled criminal-justice information.

Day-to-day, that means owning infrastructure, network architecture, identity, security, and full-stack Microsoft Azure cloud operations for an organization where a single misconfiguration can trigger a federal audit. The patterns that work in that environment — least-privilege identity, defensible architecture, and documented evidence of every control — also work for the small and mid-sized businesses that don't have a Director of IT on staff.

Joyce IT Consulting exists to bring that level of practice to organizations that couldn't otherwise afford it. We work with a limited number of clients per quarter so every engagement gets direct, principal-level attention — the same person from kickoff to handoff, no junior consultants learning on your budget.

We're vendor-neutral, we don't resell software, and we don't take referral fees from the products we recommend. The only way we make money is by giving you advice that's actually in your interest.

Our values

Four principles we won't compromise on.

These aren't posters on the wall — they're the rules we use to decide which projects to take, which vendors to recommend, and when to tell a client they don't actually need our help.

Plain English

Every deliverable should be readable by a non-technical executive. If we can't explain it simply, we don't understand it well enough yet.

Vendor-neutral

We don't resell, we don't take kickbacks, and we'll tell you when the cheaper option is the right one. Our only product is advice you can trust.

Fixed-fee first

Hourly billing rewards consultants for being slow. We quote projects up front whenever scope allows, and we eat overages that aren't your fault.

Leave it better

Documentation, training, and runbooks are part of the deliverable — not a follow-on engagement we sell you later. Your team should be more capable when we leave.

Limited engagements

We cap the number of active clients each quarter. If you hire us, you get our undivided attention — not the leftovers from a bigger account.

Senior-led, always

The person who scopes the project is the person who delivers it. No handoffs, no junior consultants learning on your budget, no excuses.

Let's see if we're a good fit.

We're picky about who we work with — and we recommend you be too. A 30-minute call is the easiest way to find out.
